Protecting PDF Files by Password Encryption
Adobe Acrobat provides password encryption to limit access to pdf files and prevent unauthorized people from opening them. This is a commercial proprietary software for pdf editing. However, password-protected pdf files can be opened by the free Adobe Reader.

Note: multiple files encryption can be done directly, but decryption to multiple files is not available.
Don’t forget:
- Passwords must be kept properly as there is no way to retrieve forgotten passwords or otherwise open these files.
- You cannot add passwords to a signed or certified document.
